Start with the real experience
Use a personal essay to explain something you actually did, noticed or reconsidered. EssayStep can help you organise a draft and question unclear passages. It is not an admissions consultant and cannot predict acceptance.
Replace a broad claim with an observable moment
Original fictional illustration: “I became a better listener” gives little evidence. A more specific scene might describe pausing a club meeting to ask a quiet member what was missing from the plan. Use this contrast to inspect your own story; do not borrow the fictional event as your experience.
Ask three questions
What happened? What did I do or change? What do I understand differently now? If a paragraph only labels you as determined or creative, look for the action that would let a reader reach that conclusion themselves.
Use feedback as a question
Ask which sentence is vague or disconnected from your reflection. Write your own revision and check that it still sounds like you. Do not invent achievements, hardships or details to satisfy a suggestion.
Check the submission rules
Institutions have different rules for outside help and AI. Read the policy for your application before using generated suggestions. EssayStep feedback is a learning aid; you remain responsible for the submitted content.
